Diana and Cupid Mantel Clock

Fine quality and rare early 19th Century romantic French Empire gilt bronze clock depicting Diana and her son Cupid. Finely cast and chased case with symbols of love. Cupid kisses his mother's hand whilst she carries a rose, to the right loves eternal flame burns. Eight day silk suspension movement, white convex enamel face signed 'Ls Mallet Hr De M. D. D’Orleans’ (Horloger de Monsieur Duc D'Orleans). Louis Mallet is recorded in Tardy as working in Rue Jean Jacques Rousseau in 1812 and Rue Neuve des Petits-Champs between 1820 and 1830. Circa 1820.
