CA1079 Diana and Cupid Mantel Clock by Leroy

Early 19th Century French Empire period gilt bronze ormolu figural mantel clock by Leroy, signed 'Leroy à Paris'. Gilt bronze face with hand painted roman numerals in a case surmounted by a delightful representation of Cupid pleading with his mother the goddess Diana to return his bow and arrow. Finely chased symbols of love decorate the clock. 8 day silk suspension movement. Circa 1820.
