CA1067 Late 18th Century French Directoire Bisque Clock

Late 18th Century French bisque classical porcelain clock case depicting Urania the daughter of Zeus, the godess associated with astronomy and navigation. Here she is typically shown with a celestial globe and parchment. She sits on a draped orb supported by four griffins. Extensive repairs. Later adapted 19th century movement. Circa 1780. An identical case sold at Sotheby’s Amsterdam 16th June 2009.
