CA1007 French Empire period 'Trophies of War' Mantel Clock

A quite superb early 19th century French Empire period patinated bronze 'Trophies of War' mantel clock, signed Leclerc à Paris. The eight day silk suspension movement with gilt bronze engine turned dial is set into a classical shield decorated with winged thunderbolts and spears with banners to the side, surmounted by a victor's laurel. The base with classical crested helmets, paw feet and crossed quills patinated bronze mount. This clock case has in the past been attributed to Thomire, see Christie's sale 18th March 2003, lot 248. Leclerc is recorded as working in Paris between 1804-1820. France, circa 1810.
