French Empire Style Hand Mirror

Very elegant, fine quality 19th Century French Empire style gilt bronze ormolu hand held mirror with classically inspired decorative motifs typical of the Empire period. Topped with open winged imperial eagle seated on an elaborate bow and garlands. Original mercury backed mirror framed by rows of laurel and oak leaves. Open work handle with applied laurel wreath with ribbons and athancus leaf motifs. Napoleon III period circa 1870.
