Grand Tour Bronze Bust of Lysimachus

Fine and rare 19th Century patinated bronze bust of Lysimachus (361-281BC) after the original in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Lysimachus was a Macedonian Officer, bodyguard and member of Alexander the Greats companion cavalry. A successor to Alexander he would become a Macedonian King of Thrace and Asia Minor. Beautiful portrait of Lysimachus in middle age his head turned to the side with a lined and careworn face. Patinated bronze socle. Presented on a later Verde Antico marble base with painted 'Lysimachus' to front.
