Very rare 18th Century Bronze Models of the Dioscuri, Castor & Pollox

Important late 18th Century patinated bronze models of the mythological Dioscuri, Castor and Pollox after the Roman marble originals on the Fontana Dei Dioscuri opposite the Palazzo del Quirinale in Rome. Rarely seen, well cast, patinated bronze figures mounted on black marble plinths with champhered Siena marble bases. In the manner of Francesco Righetti (1749-1819) a student of Luigi Valadier and celebrated bronzier and producer of statuettes after famous antiquities and is known to have produced larger versions of this pair of figures, see Sotheby's Tomasso sale 29th April, 2021, Lot 100. Rome, circa 1795.
