Grand Tour Bronze Bust of Seneca

Fine 19th century Grand Tour patinated bronze bust of the Pseudo-Seneca after the antique original found at the Villa dei Paperi in Herculaneum and now in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples. Initially believed to be the philosopher Seneca the Younger it is now generally identified as a Roman copy of an original, lost Greek bronze of either Hesiod or Aristophanes. Italy circa 1880.
