CA1025 Rare Pair of Grand Tour Alabaster Spinarios
A lovely pair of what would seem to be mid 20th Century alabaster models of Spinario, after the original sculpture in the Capitoline Museum, Rome. Depicting a boy withdrawing a thorn from the sole of his foot it is often referred to as the Boy with the Thorn or Fedele (Fedelino). Obviously bought originally as a pair and unusually not split up over the years, very rare. Very good condition, both are inscribed on the base 'Pisa 1944'.
