A superb, detailed, Grand Tour carved alabaster cabinet model of the Arch of Septimius Severus in Rome on a grey alabaster base inscribed ARCO DI SET. SEVRO. Positioned at the northwest end of the Roman Forum the triumphal arch was dedicated in 203AD to commemorate the Parthian victories of Emperor Septimius Severus and his two sons, Caracalla and Geta. Nicely figured warm honey toned alabaster, in good condition for its age. Rome, circa 1880.
