Pair of Regency Caryatid Candlesticks

Attractive pair of early 19th Century English Regency gilt and patinated bronze and marble Neoclassical caryatid candlesticks. Typical Regency grey marble platforms with beautifully figured white marble socle bases, the vivid colour generated by 200 years of the rust from the internal iron rods. Surmounted by patinated bronze classically robed vestal type female figures holding cushions on their heads. Fine quality gilt bronze candle cups in the manner of Thomas Hope. English, circa 1820.
