CA0564 Pair of French Egyptian Revival candlesticks

Unusual and very decorative pair of late 19th century French 'Retour d'Egypte' Egyptian Revival patinated bronze caryatid candlesticks in the form of pharaonic figures. The Egyptian figures with outswept arms hold small pots probably for incense. Both figures decorated with panels of stylised hieroglyphics. Well modelled and cast with typically Egyptian inspired decoration. Both candlesticks sit on round black marble bases. Napoleon III period. French, circa 1870.
