CA0479 Pair of hand coloured constellation maps of the Northern night sky

A rare pair of hand coloured constellation maps of the Northern night sky probably from a French celestial atlas from the late 17th century. Possibly by Ignace Gaston Pardies in 1690, if not, certainly influenced by his star and constellation maps. Beautifully illustrated, bursting with mythological creatures and classical heroes. Later academic walnut cushion frame with gilt inline.
