CA0405 Rare pair of Grand Tour Bronze Senators in the manner of Righetti

Fine pair of late 18th century Italian Grand Tour patinated bronzes of two of antiquities' great orators, The Greek Athenian statesman and father of western democracy Demosthene and the Roman senator Cicero. Presented on grey Bardiglio marble bases with gilt bronze bases, applied name plaques and chains very much in the manner of the Italian sculptor and bronzier Francesco Righetti (1749-1819). See Sotheby's sale 'European Sculpture and Works of Art', 4th July 2023, lot 61. Righetti who trained under Luigi Valdier was much sought after for his beautiful high quality bronze reductions which he sold to aristocratic and wealthy individuals on their Grand Tours. Exceptionally rare pair of bronzes.
