CA0282 Rare pair Regency 'Au Bon Sauvage' compotes
A very rare pair of early 19th century English Regency gilt bronze 'Au Bon Sauvage' figural compotes or urns. Given there early date and English attribution these could be symbolic of the abolitionist movement. The superb quality figures with open shirts stand on naturalistic floral domed bases set on square blocks with four lion type paw feet. Each figure holds aloft a very decorative urn with a lobed base and trailing floral mounts. England, circa 1825.
