CA0280 Fine French equestrian bronze of a riderless horse
Good quality early 19th century French patinated equestrian bronze model of a saddled riderless, possibly panicked, horse in the aftermath of battle in the style of images by Carle Vernet (1758-1836). Naturalistically modelled with a short trimmed tail common with cavalry horses during the Napoleonic wars and lacking a stirrup on the rear side. Impressive and highly decorative bronze beautifully cast with a real sense of movement and power. France, circa 1830.
