CA0252 Fine pair 19thC dancing bacchanalians after Jean Bulio

A large rare pair of late 19th century French patinated bronze dancing bacchanalian figures of a 'faun with pipes' and an 'estatic female' after Jean Bulio (1827-1911). Well cast examples with good even dark patina. Black marble column bases with a patinated bronze frieze of a classical procession. Pipes possibly later replacements. Bulio was born in Fabrègues, Hérault in 1827. He moved to Paris, where he became a student of Armand Toussaint, and then entered the École des Beaux-Arts in 1851, he made his debut at the Salon in 1859 and exhibited for the last time in 1903. He died in Montpellier in 1911. French, circa 1880.
