CA0200 Very Decorative French Etruscan Revival Marble Topped Guéridon
Fascinating, very unusual, decorative French patinated bronze Roman or Etruscan revival floor standing marble topped guéridon, after the antique. Rich red Rouge Griotte circular marble top sits on a patinated bronze collar decorated with bucrania mounts of garlands and ox heads: motifs from Roman temple friezes such as the Temples of Vesta, Tivoli and Vespasian and Titus in Rome. Three elegant tripod legs with paw feet and classical bust terminals and acorn details, after the antique. Obviously inspired by classical originals such as the Etruscan (490-470BC) stand from Vulci displayed in the British Museum. Italy, circa 1860.
