CA0194 French early 19th century Hercules and Hesione Candelabra

Rare pair of early 19th century French Empire/Restauration period patinated and gilt bronze ormolu three branch figural candelabra depicting Hercules and the Trojan princess Hesione. Hesione, the daughter of Laomedon, was chained to a rock to be sacrificed to a sea monster and was rescued by Hercules. Nicely modelled with Hercules holding his iconic club and Hesione her broken chain. Both figures hold aloft floral decorated three branch candelabras with elegant central stems topped with a flame. Standing on gilt and patinated bronze baluster style bases. France, circa 1825
