CA0177 Rare Empire clock depicting Pamona goddess of Fruitful Abundance

Attractive, finely cast early 19th century French Empire gilt bronze ormolu mantel clock depicting the Roman goddess of fruitful abundance Pamona, seated with a basket of picked fruit, feeding an apple to a snake familiiar, a symbol of regeneration. Fine intricate swan, floral mounts with a bow an arrow to the base of the clock. Floral bezel, gilt bronze face signed 'Baltazar' recorded in Tardys 'Dictionnaire des Horlogers Française' as working on the Rue de la Calan in 1806 and the Rue de la Calandre in 1830. Breguet hands. France, circa 1825.
