CA0181 Fascinating pair of Egyptian Revival candlesticks

Fascinating pair of late 19th/early 20th century Egyptian Revival gilt and silver patinated bronze candlesticks. Unusual design with full length female figures each holding an Ankh, the symbol of eternal life and a sceptre topped by a lotus flower. On their heads sits a Shuti crown with an Ajet an Egyptian symbol representing the Sun's daily rebirth. Faux hieroglyphs to the front. On red marblr circular bases. Only remnants of the silver gilt remaining just hints of how magnificent these would have once looked, a lovely example of faded glory. French or English, circa 1900.
