CA1001 Louis XVI Style 'à la Bacchante et Chevres' Clock

A fine quality large size Louis XVI style French early 19th century white marble and gilt bronze ormolu 'à la bacchante et chevres' clock. Surmounted by a female bacchante pouring wine from her cup. The movement encased in a drum held aloft by two symetrical winged cherubs sitting on goats. Rich fabric valance and garlands of vines to the centre. The white marble base mounted with gilt bronze ormolu frieze of a bacchante procession. Identical in every way to a clock made by the eminent horologer Charles Leroy. Paris, circa 1800.
