Fascinating, eccentric and extremely unusual pair of 19th Century, possibly Neo Pompeian patinated candlesticks, after antique originals or simply influenced by them. Grand Tour style: fabulous zoomorphic bird legs feet with an elegant thin stem topped by a triform top with lion head masks and original chains. Classical brazier style candle cups with simulated triple flame oil lamps. Very Roman in form, playful and delightfully whimsical. French or Italian, circa 1870.
