CA0657 Large Grand Tour Italian carved Serpentine model of Il Porcollino

Beautiful and large scale mid 19th Century Grand Tour Italian carved Serpentine marble model of Il Porcollino, or the Uffizi Boar, in Florence. Unpolished with a fabulous matt finish in a glorious powder green colour. Originally commisioned by Cosimo II de' Medici it was probably inspired by an original Hellenistic marble boar now situated in the Uffizi Gallery. Italy, probably Florence, circa 1890.
