Grand Tour marble bust of the Augustus of Prima Porta

Fine quality late 19th century Grand Tour white statuary marble bust of Caesar Augustus of Prima Porta, the first Emperor of Rome, after the antique. The 1st century AD original was discovered in 1867 at the Villa of Livia, North of Rome and now resides in the Braccio Nuovo in the Vatican Museum. Presented on a typical Roman Marmo Rosso Levanto and Belgium Black marble socle base. Italy, probably Rome, circa 1890.
