CA0506 Small Patinated Bronze L'Arc de Triomphe

Small size, fine quality 19th Century Grand Tour patinated bronze architectural model of the ‘L’Arc de Triomphe’ in Paris. Superbly cast and wonderfully detailed with a deep brown patination. Built to commemorate French soldiers that had died in the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, the imposing arch, completed in 1836 under the rule of Louis Phillipe, became a highlight stop for individuals on the Grand Tour in the second half of the 19th century. Good example of an increasingly difficult to find Grand Tour model. French, circa 1870.
